Hello! My name is Dr. Deb Brown and I am the owner of Pequot Lakes Animal Hospital. I grew up on a farm in Ellsworth, Wisconsin. I knew I wanted to be a vet since I was 7 years old, after taking care of my first pet, a sheep named Peep (her brother was named Bo).
I graduated from the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul, MN with a BA in Biology. I continued my training at the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 1994.
My special interest is holistic medicine. I was certified in veterinary acupuncture from the Chi Institute in Florida in 2001. I have also studied Chinese herbal medicine, western herbal medicine, food therapy, and homotoxicology. I want to be able to heal the whole pet, not just treat the symptoms.
When I’m not at work I like spending time with my husband Tony, our dogs Bud and Heidi, and our two cats Rosebud and Diamond Sparkles. I enjoy pheasant hunting, reading suspense novels, and kayaking Minnesota’s 10,000 lakes.
I am originally from Duluth, Minnesota. My interest in veterinary medicine occurred later on in life when I was recommended a therapeutic animal companion to help me through a recovery process and that is when Rosie entered my life. Rosie is a beautiful basset hound with boundless energy. My experience with Rosie awoke within me a deep compassion and empathy for animals and that is when I realized that as a veterinarian, I could make a positive difference not only in my patient's lives, but the lives of the people who rely on them for their livelihood or companionship.
I graduated from the University of Minnesota Duluth in 2010, with a Bachelor's degree in Biology. I graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in September of 2015 and completed my clinical training at the University of Minnesota.
I have strong interests in dentistry, soft tissue surgery, as well as complementary medicine. When I am not working I enjoy spending time with my dogs Rosie and Leo.
